NATCHEZ — Services for Albert “Jake” Fleming, 67, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Windy Hill No. 1 Baptist Church in Cranfield with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Fleming Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Fleming was born Sept. 11, 1944, in Natchez, the son of Charles and Katie Fleming. He was a retiree of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.

Jake was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fleming Hunting Club and Cranfield Elite Social Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard Fleming, Charles Fleming and Lawrence Fleming; and three sisters, Mary Fleming, Claudia Briggs and Gladys Miller.

Survivors include a devoted wife, Alice W. Fleming; five children, Vanissa Thompson and husband, Dennis, of Biloxi, Alicia Brown and husband, John, of Jackson, Albert Fleming Jr. of Natchez, Kimberly Fleming of New Orleans and Jermaine Green and wife, Mekissa, of Killen, Texas; four sisters, Clara Lewis and Juanita Fleming, both of Natchez, Nellie Fleming of Baton Rouge and Earline White of Houston, Texas; one dear brother, James Fleming and wife, Shelly, of Natchez; six loving grandchildren, Autrionne, Brandon, Allyson, Kamryn, Dylan and Avery; one cherished aunt, Dinah Evans of Marietta, Ga.; a special nephew, Willie Briggs and wife, Maxine, of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Elite Social Club members, Floyd Newman Sr., Willie Briggs, Larry Brown, Floyd Newman Jr., Perry Champ, Cornelius Smith and Moses Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Fleming Jr., Donnell Fleming, Richard Fleming, Derrick Fleming, Eric Williams, Carl Lewis, Maurice Duncan, Nicholas Vaughn, R.T. “Jackie Boy” Lanus and Julius Wilson.
