Have you ever wished that you could support tourism and have fun at the same time?

On Wednesday, you can accomplish that goal by attending the Natchez Garden Club’s annual Fall Bash.

As you head home from work Wednesday, stop by the Natchez Coffee Company between 6 and 8 p.m. and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, live music and good company.

You can even shop while you snack because it is also a silent auction.

The silent auction packages have something for everyone. For the party hearty, a dinner party package for 10 at Rip Rap catered by Cissy Eidt would be a good choice.

The leisure-minded can bid on a Lake St. John weekend at the Callon Cottage that includes a gift card from the Natchez Go Mart and a Vera Bradley tote.

Tired of sleeping in the dog house? Fresh flowers once a month for a year from Morton’s may be just the right package for you. Perhaps you just want to turn your house into a welcoming home with a gorgeous fall wreath made by Julie Johnson.

How does all of this support tourism in Natchez? The proceeds from this event will go to benefit the restoration of Magnolia Hall.

Built in 1858 by Thomas Henderson, this Greek Revival mansion is a popular tourist attraction. Many tourists have enjoyed Magnolia Hall’s candlelight dinners, the costume museum and its unique magnolia-and-leaf ceiling medallions.

Preserving our local treasures like Magnolia Hall supports tourism in Natchez, which is, of course, a financial benefit to the entire city.

So, come, eat, drink, shop and support your local tourist attraction. It promises to be a great night.

Tickets for the Fall Bash can be purchased in advance from the Natchez Garden Club office at 601-443-9065 for $12 or at the door for $15. Bidding for the silent auction begins at 6, and winners will be announced at 8 p.m.

Jennifer Slover is a co-chairman of the Natchez Garden Club’s Fall Bash.
