NATCHEZ — The second suspect in last week’s dog fighting incident in LaGrange Subdivision turned himself in at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Sunday, Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Monday.

Mayfield said Lewis Jackson, 18, 601 Old Washington Road, was charged with dog fighting. Jackson’s suspected accomplice, Cornelius Dominque Baldwin, 26, 2002 Lotus Drive, was charged Tuesday after deputies found enough evidence at the scene to link Baldwin to the fight.

Mayfield said Jackson refused to give a statement, but he did claim affiliation with the Bloods gang.

Mayfield said his office has not been able to identify any more suspects in the incident. He said neither Baldwin nor Jackson is giving information about anyone else involved in the fight, and he does not believe the men will help authorities find the others involved.

“It’s a long shot,” Mayfield said. “I don’t think they’re going to tell us anything.”

Jackson’s bond is set at $2,500. Baldwin was released on a $2,500 bond Thursday. Both men are each facing $5,000 fine and one year in jail.
