CLAYTON — Services for Dorothy Dix Minor, 88, of Castro Valley, Calif., formerly of Clayton, who died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at Valley Point Nursing Rehab Center in Castro Valley, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky O’Quinn officiating.

Burial will follow at Consurella Cemetery in Lake St. John under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Minor was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Lake St. John, the daughter of Frank Dix Sr. and Arizona Smith Dix.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Fat” Minor; one son, William Coleman “Pim” Dix; three brothers, William W. “Bill” Dix, Frank Dix Jr. and Frank Durr; two sisters, Virginia Dix and Rosa Lee Shaw; and three beloved grandchildren, Cameron Morales, Mechelle Morales and Charles Minor Jr.

Survivors include three sons, Charles E. Minor and wife, Rosetta, of Fairfield, Calif., Samuel Minor and wife, Kim, of Castle Rock, Colo., and Clifford Wayne Minor of Oakland, Calif.; four daughters, Jean M. Young and husband, Adam, of San Francisco, Carolyn M. Morales of Ferriday, Debra M. Andrews and husband, Carlos, of Natchez and Vera M. Sanderford and husband, Herbert, of San Leandro, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, Johnny Guice Jr., Kenneth Carter, Krasaundra Hunter, Delisha Coleman, Rachael Coleman, Michelle King, Tandra Bost, Lawanda Clark, Alethea Young, Samuel Minor Jr., Alease Minor, Cynthia Griffin, Shannon Morales Sr., Tiffany Minor, Brittany Minor and Donovan Minor; 25 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Larry Dix; three godchildren, Abdul-Rahman Sabir (formerly Roosevelt Powell), Chris Hollins and Byron Jolla; six special friends, Emma Morales, Lizzie Powell, Susie Williams, Thelma Drumgoole, Alex Williams and Georgia Washington, who touched her life in a special way; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
