NATCHEZ — Services for Leandro Dixon Jr., 59, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Fallon officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park under the direction of R. D. Mackel and Sons.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a Rosary from 10:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Dixon was born Aug. 24, 1952, the son of Leandro Dixon Sr. and Evelyn Grinell Fleming.

He was a 1970 graduate of North Natchez High School and a 1974 graduate of Jackson State University. He was formerly employed with International Paper Company for 30 years and was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Leandro was a sports enthusiast in basketball and football and was known for his kind and gentle spirit.

Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, John Fleming; and one brother, Warren Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Woods Dixon; one daughter, Sonya Woods of Jackson; two sons, Leandro Dixon III and wife, Keysha, and Jeremy Dixon, all of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, LeAndro Dixon IV, LeDamion Dixon, LeAndre Dixon, all of Baton Rouge; Saniya Thompson and Jacarri Woods, both of Jackson; one sister, Evelyn Whitley and husband, Prentiss Sr., of Houston; four brothers, Thomas Donnell Hoggatt and wife, Dorothy, of Layton, Okla., Charles Edward Fleming and wife, Tammy, of Natchez; John Fleming Jr. and wife, Renee, of Houston and Glen Fleming and wife, Janice, of Monroe, La.; mother-in-law, Eugenia Lewis of Natchez; stepmother, Pearl Dixon of Chicago; three step brothers, Kenneth Dixon, Garmin Dixon, and Ronald Dixon, all of Chicago; step sister, Linda Dixon of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three aunts, Mary Ida Stanton and husband, Rev. Kenneth and Katherine Hamilton, all of Natchez and Jimmie Lee Lawrence of Minneapolis, Minn.; one uncle, Joe Grinnell of Natchez; three sisters-in-law, Jennifer Lewis, Frankie Lyles and husband, Jerome Sr., and Andrea Lewis, all of Dallas; and honorary grandson, Glen Cameron III; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
