JONESVILLE — Services for the Rev. Rod Rosefield Gordon, 63, of Jonesville, who died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Jack Knapp officiating.
Burial will follow at Huffman Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at the church.
Rev. Gordon was born Jan. 20, 1948, the son of Jessie Birdis Gordon and Bonnie May Gordon. He was a log cutter and the assistant pastor at Fort Necessity Pentecostal Church.
Rev. Gordon was a Pentecostal preacher for more than 25 years. He loved playing with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and playing practical jokes, but above all, preaching. He touched a number of lives and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, baby Gordon and Rodney Kent Gordon.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Irma Ewing Gordon; two daughters, Rhonda Neal and husband, Edward, and Sonya Reeves and husband, DeWayne, all of Jonesville; one son, Mark Gordon and wife, Whitney, of Jonesville; two brothers, Jessie Gordon and wife, Katie, of Harrisonburg and Kelly Gordon and wife, Mary, of Tulsa, Okla.; five sisters, Mary Humble of Luther, Okla., Altha Sharp and husband, Danny, of Jonesville, Janet Sidebottom and husband, Wayne, of Stutgart, Ark., Iris Hardy and husband, George, and Fredia Posey and husband, Pop, all of Jonesville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be DeWayne Reeves, Edward Neal, Jordy Mason, Wayne Ewing, Nick Humble, David Ewing, Richard Ewing and David Humble.
Honorary pallbearer will be Mark Gordon.
