NATCHEZ — Services for Charles E. Chalmers Sr., 80, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bill McCullin officiating. Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Chalmers was born June 17, 1931, in Natchez, the son of John Wilbur Chalmers and Katie White Chalmers.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Chalmers was retired from the Natchez Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed genealogy, history, being outdoors and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, June Chalmers; one son, Chuck Chalmers and wife Beverly of Vidalia; two daughters, Cynthia Fleming and husband Brent of Madison and Kim Dubuisson and husband Barry of Pearl; seven grandchildren, David, Charles, Sara, Trey, Abby, Staci and Justin; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Solon Chalmers of Long Island, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Kosharek, Barry Dubuisson, Brent Fleming, Charles Hugg, David Hugg and Amado Medina.
