NATCHEZ — A school bus carrying local elementary school students got caught in a messy delay Monday afternoon when it was steered into a muddy ditch.
Natchez Interim Police Chief Danny White said the bus driver took a wide turn at the intersection of Sherwood and Seargent S. Prentiss drives, and the front wheels of the bus got stuck in mud.
White said the bus did not overturn, and there were no injuries or other vehicles involved.
A tow truck pulled the bus out of the mud, White said.
Natchez-Adams School District Operations Manager Larnell Ford said the bus was leaving McLaurin Elementary School headed south when it entered the ditch. Students were transferred to other busses and taken home.
