NATCHEZ — Alvin Day Roy Sr., 85, of Natchez, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Roy was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Tallulah, La., the son of Lane M. and Pearl Messenger Roy. He was a retired salesman.

Mr. Roy was a member of Stanton Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and fox hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Prentiss Roy.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Roy; one daughter, Pat Havard and husband, Jesse, of Roxie; three sons, A.D. Roy Jr. and wife, Pam, of Brandon, Glynn Roy and wife, Martha, and Butch Roy and wife, Susie, all of Natchez; one sister, Opal Leake of Natchez; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
