Prep roundups: Trinity boys stay undefeated

BASTROP, La. — Tanner Cage led Trinity Episcopal with 24 points while Trae McKenzie had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Saints to an 80-63 win over the Prairie View Academy Spartans Monday night.
The Saints got off to a slow start on the offensive end and trailed the Spartans 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was quite different as the Saints scored 26 points to take a 39-30 lead into halftime. Trinity Episcopal then put Prairie View away in the second half.
Garrett Vinson added 15 points and Trey Fleming had eight points for Trinity Episcopal (6-0), which plays host to Columbia Academy Friday night.
Prairie View Academy girls 49, Trinity Episcopal 18
BASTROP, La. — For the third straight game, the Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints had a difficult time getting shots to fall and Prairie View Academy took advantage in a big way en route to a 31-point win Monday night.
The Lady Spartans jumped out to a 21-5 lead over the Lady Saints after one quarter of play and never looked back. Prairie View was led by E. Guerrero with a game-high 10 points while D. Anderson and K. Kindrix had eight points apiece.
Trinity Episcopal (4-4) was led by Mallory Lancaster and Rachel House with five points each. The Lady Saints host the Columbia Academy Lady Cougars Friday night.
Centreville Academy girls 58, Amite School Center 40
LIBERTY — Katie Berry and Tori Rouse combined to score 43 points as the Centreville Academy Lady Tigers rolled past the Amite School Center Lady Rebels Monday night.
Berry led Centreville (8-4) with 23 points to go with two steals. Rouse finished with 23 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots. The Lady Tigers put the game out of reach when the outscored the Lady Rebels 20-11 in the second quarter for a 32-15 halftime lead. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Tigers enjoyed a 49-26 lead.
Amite School Center was led by Marlee Touchstone who led all scorers with 28 points. Centreville hosts Adams County Christian School on Saturday.

Chamberlain-Hunt 53
PORT GIBSON — Chamberlain-Hunt got off to a strong start, but any thoughts of an upset went away in the second quarter as Wilkinson County Christian Academy rallied to win its MAIS District 6-A opener Monday night.
Chamberlain-Hunt had a 17-8 lead over WCCA by the end of the first quarter, but the Rams charged back, outscoring CHA 24-8 in the second quarter for a 32-25 lead at the half and 21-7 in the third quarter for a commanding 53-32 advantage.
Dre’ Tolliver led WCCA (6-1, 1-0) with 16 points and Ethan Carruth had 15 points. The Rams host district opponent Tallulah Academy Friday night.
Riverfield Academy boys 49, Tensas Academy 32
RAYVILLE, La. — Once the first quarter was over, Riverfield Academy took control of this game as the Raiders outscored the Tensas Academy Chiefs in each of the last three quarters for a 17-point victory Monday night.
Riverfield was led by D. Horne with a game-high 25 points. The Raiders trailed Tensas Academy 11-9 at the end of the first quarter but led at halftime 27-21. In the second half, the Chiefs had a hard time getting shots to fall and that allowed the Raiders to continue to add to their lead.
Tensas Academy was led by Blaine Fletcher with 13 points and Farrel Keahey with eight points. The Chiefs host return to MAIS District 6-A action Friday night when the host Amite School Center.
Riverfield Academy girls 58, Tensas Academy 26
RAYVILLE, La. — Not one player for Tensas Academy scored in double figures in their loss to Riverfield Academy Monday. The Lady Raiders’ defense had a lot to do with that.
The first quarter was competitive for the most part and ended with Riverfield leading 14-9. The second quarter, not so much. The Lady Raiders scored 22 points while Tensas Academy did not score a single point and trailed 36-9 at halftime.
Hali Matthews scored seven points while Bailey Keyes and Katy Irby added six points each for the Lady Chiefs, who plays host to Amite School Center in their District 6-A opener Friday night.
