GREENWOOD, La. — Graveside services for Charles M. Murray, 87, of Greenwood, La., who died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at his home with his family at his side, was Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, La., with the Rev. Steve Caraway and the Rev. Leonard Nichols officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel in Shreveport, La.
Mr. Murray was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Hattiesburg, the son of John and Lola Murray. He was an active member of Mangum United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Murray was a pharmaceutical representative, retiring after 34 years and in later years a financial advisor. He was an active Shreveport diplomat and president of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce.
He proudly served this country in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Bob Swain Murray; three sons, Charles Murray II and Brett Murray and Leslie Murray; four daughters, Debra Roach, Melanee Blankstein, Melissa Murray Jones and Melinda Nichols; 18 loving grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Ann Coley, Eleanor Talley, Bob Gray, Frankie Reeves and Kathryn Yates.
Pallbearers were his 12 grandsons.
