Garden clubs announce kings and queens

NATCHEZ — The Natchez and Pilgrimage Garden Clubs recently announced their kings and queens, who will reign over the royal courts during Spring Pilgrimage in 2012.

Julia Anne Bray — NGC queen

Bray is the daughter of Katherine and David Bray of Natchez. She is the granddaughter of Katherine L. Bray and the late Francis P. Bray of Woodville; and Willie Katherine Percy and the late Carter Percy of Ellerslie Plantation in West Feliciana Parish, La.

Bray is a 2010 graduate of Cathedral High School. She attends Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez and is majoring in graphic design.

She has volunteered at Magnolia Hall and Ellicot Hill as a hostess and has been a cotillion assistant for four years. She enjoys pilates, reading, writing, traveling, shopping, hiking, painting and watching old movies.

Bray’s past pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Placard Bearer and Page in 1997.

Miller Chandler Jordan — NGC king

Jordan is the son of Chandler and Lou Ann Jordan. He has two sisters; Sarah Grace and Ashlyn Jordan. He is the grandson of Mrs. Amon Jordan and the late Bernard Chandler Jordan Jr. of Natchez, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Chauvin Jr. also of Natchez.

He is a 2009 graduate of Cathedral High School. Prior to Cathedral, Jordan attended North Oconee High School and South Gwinnett High School in Georgia where he was a member of the State Champion Inline Hockey Team.

He is a junior at Mississippi State University where he is pursuing a dual degree in landscape architecture and landscape contracting. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church. He actively enjoys fishing, hunting, running, music and video gaming.

His past tableaux experience includes the Little Maypole, Raising of the Flag, Polka and page in 1996 to King Gaston Carby and Queen Amy Callon.

Virginia Grace Scarborough- PGC queen

Scarborough is the daughter of Jan Davis Scarborough and Bruce Scarborough, and the granddaughter of Joe and Grace Scarborough of Byram and the late Charles and Virginia Estess of Jackson.

She is a 2008 graduate of Cathedral High School and is currently attending Mississippi State University where she is majoring in special education. At Cathedral, she was voted “most dependable,” was on the Emerald Tide for four years serving as captain her senior year. She also took dance from the Middleton School of Dance for seven years.

Scarborough enjoys cooking, watching old movies, playing with her dog, Dude, and going out with her friends. Her previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Virginia Reel, junior bridesmaid in the Wedding of Jefferson Davis, Can-Can, Soiree, Soiree Sweetheart for two years and a 2011 Court Maid.

Jesse James Morrison- PGC king

Morrison is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy James Morrison, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Morrison of Centre, Ala., Mrs. Kathryn Tidwell and the late Mr. Jessie R. Tidwell both of Dothan, Ala.

He is a 2008 graduate of Cathedral High School and is currently attending the University of Alabama where he is majoring in chemical engineering. At Cathedral, Morrsion was voted Mr. CHS, most versatile, and class president. He was president of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Key Club and Retreat Team.

Morrison lettered in football, soccer, baseball, and was named to the Class 1-A All-State team in baseball. He was the recipient of multiple scholarships.

At UA, he is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He is a member of St. Mary’s Basilica. Morrison enjoys running, watching sports, traveling and visiting friends. His previous pageant participation includes Picnic, Soiree, Soiree Lead his senior year, and a 2011 Court General.
