NATCHEZ — Services for the Rev. Robert J. Greene Sr., 76, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Hill Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Joe Pickett officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Rev. Greene was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Natchez, the son of John Sr. and Eliza Woods Greene. He was baptized at an early age at Providence Baptist Church and later joined Zion Hill Baptist Church No. 1. He retired as minister from Forest Aide Baptist Church and Mount Bruin Baptist Church, both in Natchez, and from Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia. He continued serving these churches and others until his health failed.

He was also employed by International Paper Company for 23 years.

Rev. Greene was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and her husband, Dorothy York and Dave York; and one brother, John Greene Jr.

Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Carrie E. Wiley Greene; three loving daughters, Andrea L. Mitchell of Natchez, Othella Clardy and husband, Jerome, and Pamela Jackson and husband, Samuel, all of Burlington, Vt.; two devoted sons, Robert Greene Jr. and wife, Janet, of Vidalia and Theodore Clark of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be deacons from Mount Bruin Baptist Church, Forest Aide Baptist Church and Zion Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Williams, Patrick Henderson and Jonathan Prince.
