Santa not only event this weekend

NATCHEZ — Miss-Lou residents will ease into Christmas this weekend with events that celebrate the season with song, stories, Santa and cerveza.

Concordia Parish Library special guests

Mrs. Claus and Frosty will present a very merry story time for children of all ages Thursday. Admission is free.

The holiday duo will first appear at the Ferriday Library at 3 p.m., and will make their second and final appearance at the Vidalia Library at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join in this jolly time of reading and excitement with friends at the library.

Letters to Santa can be dropped off at either the Ferriday or Vidalia Library locations. North Pole mailboxes are located at the front desk.

Natchez Arts Association

The Natchez Arts Association will host an afternoon of painting from 1 to 4 p.m. today. The studio is located on the corner of Canal and Franklin streets. Admission is free.

The Castle Annual Christmas Celebration

More than seven food stations featuring delectable food and drink will be featured at the Castle Restaurant at Dunleith Historic Inn from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Stations will include martini, wine and beer, as well as stations for hors d’oeuvres, entrees and all the fixings. Tickets are $40. Advanced purchase is required. The South Natchez Colonels annual

Christmas party

The South Natchez Colonels annual Christmas party will begin at 8 p.m. Friday at the Shriner’s Building on Morgantown Road. Refreshments will be served at this BYOB affair. The cost is $25 for singles and $40 couples. Call 256-698-3455 for information.

Santa parade

Santa and his entourage will roll with the parade at 8:25 a.m. Saturday. He will first visit dozens of Natchez subdivisions including Oakland, Brooklyn, Brookfield, Montebello, Eastbrook, Westover, Dunkerron, Highland, Roselawn and Glenwood. Santa will stop at Braden School at 11:15 a.m. to hand out gifts for the Children’s Christmas Tree Fund.

Santa will have lunch from 12:15 to 1 p.m. at the Natchez Convention Center.

After lunch, Santa will entertain children at the Natchez Children’s Home until 2 p.m.

From there, Santa will visit The Trees and Fatherland subdivisions.

South Natchez vs. North Natchez Holiday Classic

The South Natchez vs. North Natchez Holiday Classic will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Natchez High School gymnasium. North Natchez Rams and South Natchez Colonels classes of 1970 through 1989, former administrators, faculty and staff are welcome to participate. The cost is $5. Christmas High Tea at Twin Oaks

Chef Regina Charboneau will open her home Twin Oaks, built in 1832, for an annual Christmas high tea from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday. Guests are welcome to celebrate Christmastime with Charboneau’s champagne cocktails, tea sandwiches and holiday desserts. Admission is $25.
