NATCHEZ — Services for James Dixon “Shuppie” Shupe, 63, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. today at New Hope Baptist Church in Cranfield.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Shupe was born Sept. 9, 1948, in Natchez, the son of John Dixon Shupe and Elise Waycaster Shupe. He was a deacon and song leader at Riverside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Benjamin Roy Ray.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Lee Shupe; one daughter, Betty Lorraine Garrett and husband, Michael; two sons, John Dixon Shupe II and Jeremiah Daniel “Danny” Shupe; three sisters, Vivian L. Smith, Matilda McWhorter and Mattilee Waycaster and husband, James; two brothers, Donald Shupe and wife, Alice, and Ronald Shupe and wife, Diane; five grandchildren, Cody Garrett, Briana Garrett, Bailey Shupe, Hanna Shupe and Bryson Shupe; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of James Shupe to New Hope Baptist Church.
