NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Alvin Day Roy Sr., 85, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Stanton Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Purvis officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Roy was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Tallulah, La., the son of Lane M. and Pearl Messenger Roy. He was a retired salesman.

Mr. Roy was a member of Stanton Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and fox hunting.

Mr. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Prentiss Roy.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Roy; one daughter, Pat Havard and husband, Jesse, of Roxie; three sons, A.D. Roy Jr. and wife, Pam, of Brandon, Glynn Roy and wife, Martha, and Butch Roy and wife, Susie, all of Natchez; one sister, Opal Leake of Natchez; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
