Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said his office received a call at 5:52 a.m. from a teenager who was at the scene at 467 Cranfield Road.

Upon arrival, the dispatched deputy discovered Eyevette Fleming dead.

Lee was called to the scene of the Cranfield Road house at 8 a.m.

He estimated that Eyevette Fleming had been killed sometime between 5 a.m. and the time he was called.

Frederick Fleming was at the scene when deputies arrived and was arrested, Mayfield said.

Investigators recovered a weapon from the scene, and the investigation is ongoing, Mayfield said.

No further arrests are expected in the case, the sheriff said.

Lee, who said he knew Eyevette Fleming well, called the crime a tragedy for her family and the community.

The Flemings are the parents of former Trinity Episcopal Day School football standout R.J. Fleming and current Trinity student Trey Fleming. R.J. Fleming, now a sophomore wide receiver for Arkansas State University, was scheduled to play in the GoDaddy.com bowl Sunday night, but the ASU sports information staff told media shortly before the game that Fleming would not play for “personal reasons.”

Eyevette Fleming worked for Dr. Charles Borum’s office, Lee said.

“This is devastation for anybody who knows Eyevette and her family,” Lee said. “My heart goes out to every single person.”

Mayfield said Frederick Fleming would be arraigned on the murder charge today or Tuesday.
