Ben Hillyer/The Natchez Democrat — LSU fan Sue Verucchi had little to cheer about as she watched the BCS championship game with her head in hands at Bowie’s Tavern in Natchez.

It was a slow and painful loss for legions of LSU fans in the Miss-Lou Monday night.

Five Alabama field goals and — finally — a touchdown led the Tide to a 21-0 victory in New Orleans. The win was the first shutout in BCS title game history.
