Several qualify for Natchez elections

NATCHEZ — Qualifying for the upcoming city elections kicked off Jan. 2, and a few familiar faces have already added their names to the ballots.

Those who had qualified as of the close of the city clerk’s office Friday are:

Mayor

Natchez Board of Aldermen

-Ward 1: Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis

-Ward 2: James “Ricky” Gray and Billy Joe Frazier

-Ward 3: Bob Pollard

-Ward 4: Ernest “Tony” Fields

-Ward 5: Mark Fortenbery

-Ward 6: Dan Dillard

City Clerk

-Donnie Holloway

Municipal Judge

-Jim Blough

Qualifying ends March 30, and the primary election is May 1.

The city is still awaiting approval for its redistricting plan from the U.S. Department of Justice. The plan must be approved by March 1 in order for elections to not be delayed. No district lines can be moved 60 days before an election.
