Trinity boys, girls lose to Silliman

CLINTON, La. — A 36-point night by Trinity Episcopal’s Tanner Cage was not enough as the Saints fell to Silliman Institute 67-66 Monday night.

Cage was Trinity’s lone double-digit scorer, with Sky Logan tallying seven points for the Saints and Tommy McCoy and Carter Smith each finishing with six points.

Silliman led 34-28 at intermission. Riley Sones totaled 21 points for Silliman, while J.Q. Austin added 19 points. Austin Gayle scored 10 points.

Trinity fell to 13-7 on the season, 1-1 in district play.

A scoreless first quarter for the Trinity girls proved to be a bad omen as the Lady Saints dropped to 7-11 on the year.

Rosie Woods had 14 points for the saints, which trailed 17-10 at the half. Silliman’s Kayla Davidson led the game in scoring with 13 points.

Trinity is 0-2 in district play and will return to district action Friday at Columbia Academy.
