Cotton Alley Café building gets approval

NATCHEZ — The Natchez Preservation Commission approved at a specially called meeting Wednesday the proposed design of the building front of Cotton Alley Café’s new location.
The commission approved the installation of two new windows and a door to the front. Awnings can be placed over the windows and door and the restaurant’s name stenciled on the awnings to meet the restaurant’s sign requirements. The building’s brick may also be painted or covered with stucco.
Work is currently being done on the new location at 208 Main St. Mimi Miller represented Cotton Alley’s owner Guy Bass at the commission meeting, and she said the new location will be open in February.
In other news from the meeting:
•Nix reported to the commission that RMB Exploration’s preliminary oil exploration work on the property housing Arlington revealed a dry hole. Nix said the company abandoned the project.
