Week full of good news for community

It was a busy week for local leaders and governmental boards, with multiple meetings filling much of the time.
Several important decisions were made, and a good foundation for the future laid.
And plenty of other good news happened along the way. Let’s review a few things.
• Vidalia Junior High School student Drake Bergeron has been named the school’s star student. Drake is involved in sports, theater and maintains good grades in the classroom.
He will now compete for the parish-wide title. Good luck Drake.
• The Historic Natchez Foundation presented awards to a number of local residents Thursday night at its annual meeting. Congratulations to all those who work so hard to preserve our important history.
• City and county leaders took an opportunity to meet together last week, hoping to begin a working relationship that could benefit all area citizens. We hope this line of communication remains open and effective.
• Reps. Angela Cockerham, Robert Johnson and Sam Mims have been appointed to chair committees in the Mississippi House of Representatives. We are glad to see our leaders involved and in position to bring good things to our neck of the woods.
As we begin a new week, we know that, together, we can make this community great.
