NATCHEZ — Brandis White tallied 21 points and Nikki Worthy had a double-double as the Adams County Christian School girls cruised to a 68-38 victory against Trinity Episcopal School Tuesday night at Trinity.

The Lady Rebels had four players score in double digits in a game that became lopsided early. ACCS jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the opening minutes of the game, and the score was 24-6 at the end of the first.

ACCS continued to pile on the points in the second quarter, taking a 47-19 lead into the half. The Lady Saints actually outscored ACCS 13-12 in the third quarter, and the Lady Rebels edged Trinity 9-6 in the fourth quarter.

“We have to be more consistent,” Trinity head coach Richy Spears said. “The first half, they came out, got up on us. In the second half, it was pretty much even. We played with them the second half, but we can’t keep digging ourselves such a hole to come out of.”

ACCS head coach Melanie Hall said she was happy with the way her team came out to open the game.

“I thought we came out with a whole lot more intensity than we have the last couple of times we played,” Hall said. “I thought at times, we worked very well on defense, and at times, I thought we didn’t do such a good job.”

Even with the fast start, Hall said she’s still waiting on what she calls the “perfect game” from her girls

“It sets the tone,” Hall said of getting an early lead. “They played very relaxed. They looked like they were having fun, and at times, they flowed.

“Of course, I’m the perfectionist, and I’m looking for the perfect game. I just believe in these kids. They know what to do, and they know how to do it.”

Tori Laird scored 15 points for ACCS, and Abby Givens tallied 12 points. But it was Worthy’s 11 points and 14 rebounds that Hall said she was particularly pleased with.

“She’s really come on for us in the last part of the season with the boards,” Halls said. “(I’ve said) earlier (in the season) that I was going to have to have the post, and those pieces are there, and I’m seeing good things.”

Trinity was led in scoring by Abbey Ashmore, who finished with 13 points. Margaret Ward had 10 points. Despite going winless in district play, Spears said the Lady Saints will have a fresh start in the upcoming district tournament.

“We’re 0-0, baby,” Spears said. “Nothing else matters. We just have to get prepared for one game at a time now. We still have a couple of more games for the rest of the year, but nothing else matters. We have to get prepared and see what we can do.”

ACCS rose to 25-4 on the season, 3-3 in district. Trinity fell to 8-18, 0-6 on the year.
