Ever catch yourself wondering, “Why am I doing this?” or “This is totally foolish?”

That is what I do on a regular basis as I travel through Natchez and Vidalia between 1 and 5 a.m. and have to obey the red traffic lights that cause me to stop and wait, wasting fuel and time to allow the nonexistent traffic to pass.

Sometimes, I catch every red light and might see only one moving vehicle the whole time through town.

The lights on Seargent S. Prentiss and John R. Junkin are working at 2 a.m., just as at 2 p.m.

To me, this is a waste and is unacceptable.

The lights should be flashing “caution” between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

I can imagine anyone passing through as well as those going to work such as I wondering what is wrong with the administration to allow such a foolish situation to continue.

Even lights in front of the Natchez Walmart, in front of the Natchez bowling alley or in front of Home Hardware in Vidalia that I thought were triggered by a car-sensing device in the pavement will turn red to stop me when no other car is anywhere around.

Someone needs to correct this silly situation.
