NATCHEZ — Services for Charles Carter Sr., 68, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at his residence, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Daughters of Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. D.W. Howard officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Carter was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Adams County, the son of Ora Lee Carter and Eddie Smith. He was reared by his aunt, Legather Carter Norman. He was a member of Daughters of Zion Baptist Church and was formerly employed by Fidelity and Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company.

Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Doris” Howard Carter; one daughter, Sylvia Thompson and husband, Johnny, of Natchez; two sons, Staff Sgt. Charles Carter Jr. and wife, Erica, of Spring Lake, N.C. and Charell Carter of Natchez; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three aunts, Marcella Carter Birtha of California, Mary C. Smelser of Chicago and Louvenia Minor of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
