GREENVILLE — Services for Allena Ealey Foules, 62, of Greenville, formerly of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Larry Story officiating.
Burial will follow at Delta Memorial Gardens under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home in Greenville.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Foules was born Nov. 16, 1949, in Natchez, the daughter of George Ealey and Dinah Washington Ealey.
Allena confessed Christ and joined Pilgrim Home Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. D.T. Irving. She later united with St. Matthew African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a faithful church worker for a number of years. All who were blessed to share in her life knew and enjoyed her passion for singing praises unto the Lord.
Allena was a 1968 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School. She was also a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University where she majored in elementary education.
Passionate about education and giving back, Allena started her career teaching in the Mississippi Delta. After a number of years teaching in various schools, she ended her career at Trigg Elementary School in Greenville.
Allena married Lawrence Foules Sr. and was his devoted friend, partner and wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Marion Kenneth Ealey.
She leaves a legacy of love, faith, prayer and endurance to all who knew and loved her. Those left to enjoy the precious memories are a loving and devoted husband; one daughter, Erica LaShawne Ealey of Sibley; one son, Kenneth DelCedric Ealey of Natchez; two grandchildren, MiKayla Lesure, who she was raising, of Greenville and James Gooden of Natchez; one sister, Debbie Sullivan of Sibley; four brothers, her twin, Edward Ealey and wife, Mildred, of Natchez, Carl Ealey and wife, Shirley, of DeSoto, Texas, Alvin Ealey and Melvin Ealey and wife, Vanessa, all of Sibley; three stepdaughters, Twanna Shannon and husband, Andre, of Jacksonville, Fla., Valerie McCain and husband, Markson, of Portland, Ore., and Einna Foules of Memphis, Tenn.; two stepsons, Lawrence Foules Jr. of Atlanta and Lurence Clay of Greenville; six aunts, Bertha Green and Rosie Stewart, both of Natchez, Dorothy Thompson of Sibley, Mary Louise Passmore and husband, Ted, of Huntsville, Ala., Bobbie Edwards and husband, Willie, of Tacoma, Wash., and Edna Howard and husband, Elvis, of Memphis; six uncles, David Ealey III of Port Hudson, La., Chester Washington and wife, Alice, Will Washington Jr. and wife, Shirley, all of Vidalia, YZ Ealey and wife, Sarah, of Natchez, Elijah Washington and wife, Lucinda, of Chicago and Theodis Ealey and wife, Linda, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Carolyn F. Morris of Greenville; one godson, Leo Jennings of Greenville; and a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
