MONTEREY — Ellen Bairnsfather had a strong outing on the mound and Jody Duncan tallied a couple of hits as Monterey High School beat Montgomery High School 5-3 Friday night in the ASH Tournament.

Bairnsfather went seven innings for Monterey, giving up just three runs on two hits and four walks. She also struck out nine batters.

Jody Duncan went 2-for-4 at the plate for Monterey (2-5), which will play again at 3 p.m. against a team yet to be determined.
