A safe containing a $500,000 collection of gold coins is believed to be the reason for the home invasion.

The Advocate in Baton Rouge reported last week that investigators had made progress in attempts to verify a safe found in Livingston Parish on Feb. 20 was the Marchands’ stolen safe and placing the time of attack to 11 p.m. on Feb. 18.

Marchand is the mother of Natchez resident Teresa Godbold.

Services for Marchand will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Lower Woodville Road with Bishop Deric Masten officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales and 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home.

Anyone with any information about the murders should call the sheriff’s office at 225-621-4636 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867. Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of persons responsible for the murders.
