Spring ahead to community events, fun

Shake it off, sleepy head. Spring is here and your community is in its heyday.
We know losing an hour over the weekend likely still has your sleep schedule off a bit, but perk up as you remember a few good things the last week of dark evenings brought us.
•Spring Pilgrimage kicked of Saturday with decent crowds, blooming azaleas and an interesting twist on the historical tour at the Gov. Holmes House. Owners Eugenie and Michael Cates were celebrating a birthday — a 236th birthday, that is. The house’s original occupant, Gov. David Holmes, was the birthday boy and he appeared with friends for tourists as costumed actors did more than simply tell about the house Saturday, they relived history.
•Brian Jackson doesn’t fear math; he’s conquers it. The Morgantown Elementary School student is exceling at school and preparing to take on life — as a robotics engineer.
• Local volunteers and donors granted a wish at Pleasant Acre Day School Tuesday, replacing termite eaten window frames and installing new windows. Community donations made the project a reality.
• Two local residents completed the Adams County Family Drug Court and are ready to get back to focusing on the family. Congratulations to Ruby Carman and Kenneth Carver Sr. Natchez is proud of your efforts and ready to support you along the way.
The weeks ahead are busy ones, so rest up as you can and find your smile on the streets as tourists pass. Just remember, great things are to come.
