NATCHEZ — Services for James W. “Hip Boots” Smith, 75, of Kingston, who died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Wagoner officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both a the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born Nov. 4, 1936, in Natchez, the son of James T. Smith and Sylvia Johnson Smith. He was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith served in the Mississippi National Guard. He retired from International Paper Company after 45 years.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathy Smith; and three brothers, Wayne Smith, Cole Smith and Carson E. Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Tyler Smith; one son, James A. Smith and wife, Kellie, of Atlanta, Texas; six grandchildren, Brandon Ros, Heather Crawford, Kayla Smith, Cole Smith, Luke Smith and Kyle Smith; two great-grandchildren, Honna Leigh Crawford and Callan Crawford; and two brothers, Gene A. Smith of Amite, La., and Michael T. Smith of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Jasin Wesberry, Cole Smith, Jamie Crawford, Brent Smith, Matt Smith and Douglas McIlwain.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Gillespie, Winston Jenkins, Robert Ashley, Davie Upton and Willie Pearson.
