Simmesport, La. — The body of an unidentified woman was pulled from the Red River just south of Concordia Parish Sunday.
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Media Relations Officer Adam Einck said WLF agents recovered the body a woman around 4 p.m. Sunday.
The matter was handed over to the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office because of where the body was located in the river, Einck said.
PCPSO Capt. Steve Juge said the body — a white female between the ages of 30 and 50 who had red hair — was sent to Lafayette Monday for an autopsy.
The autopsy was inconclusive for cause of death, Juge said.
Detectives were able to obtain fingerprints and dental records from the deceased for the purpose of identification, Juge said.
The matter remains under investigation.
