Weather forces local games to be canceled

NATCHEZ — A line of strong to severe thunderstorms came through the Miss-Lou Monday afternoon, forcing local and area high school baseball and softball game to be postponed.
Natchez High School’s softball team was scheduled to host Sacred Heart from Hattiesburg in a non-region game at the Natchez-Adams Girls Softball Complex. But the junior varsity and varsity games were canceled before the storms arrived.
Lady Bulldogs head coach ShaRhonda Welch said she doesn’t know if the games will be rescheduled.
Cathedral High School
Cathedral’s JV and varsity games at Franklin County were canceled. Green Wave head coach Craig Beesley and Bulldogs head coach Brent Calcote are working on rescheduling those games.
Cathedral’s softball teams were to host MHSAA Region 7-1A rival St. Aloysius for a JV and varsity tilt. Lady Green Wave head coach Gary Blackwell said the games had been canceled, and no make-up date has been set.
Vidalia High School
Vidalia’s baseball game at home against LHSAA District 3-3A opponent Avoyelles was canceled. Vikings head coach Kale Davis rescheduled the game for today at 5 p.m.
Vidalia’s home softball game against District 3-3A rival Buckeye was also a victim of the stormy weather. No make-up date has been announced by Lady Vikings head coach Gary Parnham.
Block High School
Block’s baseball and softball games against LHSAA District 4-1A foe Montgomery were rained out and they have been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
“It’s pouring down over here,” Block baseball head coach Stevie McCarthy said Monday afternoon.
WCCA vs. Centreville
Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s JV and varsity games against rival Centreville Academy were rained out. Rams head coach Ray McDaniel said the games might not be rescheduled.
