JONESVILLE — Services for David Archie Yarbrough, 84, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Jonesville with the Rev. Jim Elder officiating.
Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery in Manifest, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, and will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at First United Methodist Church in Jonesville.
Mr. Yarbrough was born on Oct. 24, 1927, in Athens, Ala., the son of David Luther Yarbrough and Virginia Dare Yarbrough.
Mr. Yarbrough graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture business. He was co-owner of W&Y Tractor Company for more than 30 years. He was a charter member of Panola Woods Country Club and Deep South Equiptment Dealers Association. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and trained in Oahu, Hawaii.
Mr. Yarbrough loved spending time in nature with animals, as well as gardening, golfing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Yarbrough Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Yarbrough of Jonesville; daughters, Amy Sexton and husband, Stephen, of Lafayette, La., Robin Mophett and husband, Stephen, of Jonesville, and Kristy Yarbrough of West Monroe; five grandsons, Tyler Trisler, David Sexton, Aron Sexton, Gareth Mophett and Gavin Mophett; two granddaughters, Brittany Guillot and Bailey Mophett; sister, Katherine Horton of Athens, Ala., and a host of nieces of nephews.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Bo Roberts.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Tims, Randy Ward, Mark Bordelon, Phillip Hollier, Gene Gantz and Billy Don Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
