Remember all year, not just one day

Today is a day for remembrance.
Yes, yesterday was officially Memorial Day, but remembering those who have fought and died for our freedom shouldn’t be a once-a-year affair.
Modern-day wars often don’t affect Americans the way previous battles did. We are fortunate that a fight abroad no longer wrecks our economy at home.
But, as a result, Americans do an unsatisfactory job of appreciating their freedom.
That lack of understanding shows up everywhere, especially at the voting booths.
All recent elections did well to garner 50 percent of the registered voters; don’t even request 50 percent of the entire local population.
Yet, we still have men and women fighting and dying abroad to ensure that right isn’t challenged.
As you head back to work and a regular schedule today, make time to remember our heroes daily.
Their sacrifices weren’t limited to one day a year, and our remembrance and appreciation shouldn’t be either.
Thank you to all who have served.
