NATCHEZ — Funeral Services for Lubertha Cecilia Winston Washington, 70, who died Sunday, May 27, 2012, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church.
A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Washington was born July 21, 1941, in Natchez, the daughter of Howard and Luberta Stumps Winston. She attended Tensas Rosenwald High School and went on to receive a bachelor of science in elementary education from Grambling State University and a master’s of education from Tuskegee Institute. She dedicated more than 40 years of her life to the education of our community as a teacher in the Concordia Parish, Tensas Parish and Natchez-Adams County school systems until her retirement.
Lubertha was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and the National Educators’ Association. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie Lee Washington Sr.; and siblings Vivian Elaine Winston Graham, Valeria Hawkins, Annie Earl Winston, Howard Winston Jr. and Lehman Winston.
Survivors include her children Eddie Lee Washington Jr. and wife, Daniela, Lee Alex Washington and wife, Susan, and Melodie Ann Washington; seven grandchildren, LaKeisha Washington, Eddie Lee Washington III, Brittany Fullmighter Washington, Isis Washington, Sabra Washington, Catherine Cecilia Washington and Alexia Washington; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Washington; and a number of nieces, nephews, godchildren, family and friends.
