Top students, Scouts make us proud

Pleasant days and not-as-hot-as-it’s-going-to-be temperatures made this last week a nice one, minus a few brief storms.
Summer is under way, but the news has continued coming.
Let’s review a few of the good headlines from last week.
• Eric, Tracy and Jordan Smith had their fill of graduation ceremonies to attend this spring, but the family isn’t complaining. All three Smiths graduated — the parents from Alcorn State; Jordan from Natchez High. Congratulations Smiths!
• Daniel Dunaway and Will Maxwell recently wrapped up work toward their Boy Scout Eagle rank and received the organization’s top honors. The teens have learned valuable lessons and given back to this community already. We are proud of their work.
• Top leaders from KiOR were in town last week to check out their site and meet with locals. These executives were impressed with our great city, and we are happy they are ready to invest in us.
• With graduations behind us, we want to say one final congratulations to the top academic performer at each school. We are proud of you, valedictorians: Denise Collier, Kandice Bailey, Madeline Iles, Debra Whitley, Miranda McMurry, Bobbie Williams and Rea Grimmett.
Let’s enjoy the week to come; it’s bound to bring great things.
