FERRIDAY — Services for Danny Louis Phillips, 85, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Ferrington officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Phillips was born May 6, 1927, in Alexandria.
He was a painter and known for graphic designing, sign building, painting bridges and water towers. He was the last living bridge worker who worked on the old Natchez bridge. He was retired from the U.S. Navy serving his country in World War II.
Mr. Phillip was preceded in death by his father, William Arthur Phillips; his mother, Sallie Phillips; one son, David L. Phillips; four brothers, William Phillips, Joe Phillips, Dewey Phillips and Charles “A.P.” Phillips; one sister, Sarah Ball; one grandson, Joshua Phillips; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Tyler; one great-grandson, Noah Farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Phillips of Ferriday; four sons, Mike Phillips and wife, Charlotte, of Hattiesburg, Howard Phillips and wife, Suson, of Ferriday, Robin Phillips and wife, Sandra, of Vidalia; one daughter, Brenda Murray and husband, Raymond, of McComb; two step-sons, James W. Wilson of Winnsboro, La. and Johnny O. Wilson and wife, Karen, of Vidalia; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Little, Robbi Ford Sr., Roy Rushing, Hiram Copeland, Pete Hauer and Jonathan Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Wilson Jr. and James Wilson.
