NATCHEZ — Work previously delayed to completely restructure a portion of Daisy Street will begin Monday.

Natchez City Engineer David Gardner said the project’s contractor, W.E. Blain & Sons, were issued a notice to proceed in March, but Gardner said the company had its crews obligated to other projects.

Crews will begin with installing curbs and gutters and excavating the street to restructure approximately 1,700 feet of Daisy Street.

Gardner said the goal is to keep half the street open while crews are working.

“That’s not to say that we’re not going to inconvenience some people from time to time,” he said.

The project, Gardner said, should be completed by Aug. 13.

The project is being funded by a $370,000 grant from the Mississippi Development Authority’s Community Block Development Grant program. The city put up a 50-percent match, Gardner said, to make the city’s application more competitive.
