NATCHEZ — Services for Martha J. Rice, 96, of Sedgefield, who died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Quinn officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Rice was born Aug. 2, 1915, in Adams County, the daughter of Martha Paxton and Kato Jones.
She was a devoted member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where she active in various positions.
Survivors include five children, Andrew “Brother” Rice Jr. and wife, Ruth Anne, and Audrey Quinn and husband, Henry, all of Chicago, Dorothy Gaylor and Estella Drew, both of Natchez, and Oliver Charles Rice Sr. and wife, Earline, of Jackson; 22 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 59 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marie Rice of Natchez; first cousin, Sidney Fowler of Lafayette, La.; two nieces, Earnestine Hickman of New Orleans and Elsie White and husband, Wilbur, of Natchez; and a number of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
