Nannie Ruth Sheely Sessums

NATCHEZ — Services for Nannie Ruth Sheely Sessums, 103, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Crown Health and Rehabilitation, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Spencer officiating.

A private family burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sessums was born Oct. 15, 1908, in Scott County, the daughter of George Polk Sheely and Mary Margaret Sigrest Sheely. She was a resident of Natchez for more than 50 years.

“Ms. Nannie” served as office manager of Peoples Ice Company and secretary of Blue Bell of Natchez. Her later years were spent at Crown Health and Rehab, where she was well attended by caring staff. Her long life of 103 years was due to her faith and love of family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Vance Sessums and one son, Ray Edward Sessums.

Survivors include one brother-in-law, David M. Sessums and his wife, Edith C. Sessums, and their daughter, Diana Johnston and family, all of Byram.

The family extends thanks to the staff of Crown Health and Rehab and Parkway Baptist Church for being a part of her 103 years of life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any remembrances be sent to Crown Health and Rehab.
