National Guard to have deployment ceremony

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Soldiers of the Louisiana National Guard’s 756th Area Support Medical Company will bid farewell to family and friends at a deployment ceremony Sunday.
More than 65 soldiers will deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to support six sites in the cities of Bagram and Kabul where they will provide emergency medical, dental and medevac services.
The ceremony will be held at the Gillis W. Long Center in Carville at 9:45 a.m.
The 756th ASMC is organized into three platoons: Treatment, Ambulance, and Headquarters. It is comprised of medical occupation specialties such as surgeons, doctors, physician assistants, nurses, combat medics, radiology technicians, dental technicians, and vehicle and generator mechanics.
