MIDLAND, Texas — Services for Edwin Morrell Stewart, 83, of Midland, Texas, who died Saturday, September 15, 2012, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Midland, Texas. with Brother Harvey Enriquez officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Stewart was born March 31, 1929, the son of Vernon Eugene and Vernon Eugenia Stewart in Natchez.

Mr. Stewart joined the U.S. Army in 1949 and served as a sergeant until he was honorably discharged in 1952. He married Josephine “Jo” Cook on May 30, 1953, in Natchez and moved to Midland, Texas, in 1955, where he and his wife raised their five children. They owned and operated M&J Construction.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Marie Stewart, and grandson, Jeremy Morrell Stewart.

Survivors include his children, Ed Stewart, and his wife, Kim, of Brownwood, Texas, Vernon Stewart and Stephanie of Highland Village, Texas, Maureen Wells, and husband, Jimmy, of Forney, Texas, Lynn Stewart Pope of Hondo, Texas, and Rusty Stewart and wife, Terresa, of Andrews, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
