NATCHEZ — Overall sales tax collections for August were $444,394, up 6 percent from August 2011.

Lodging tax collections were $33,011, up 33 percent from the $24,736 collected in August 2011.

The $2 hotel and bed-and-breakfast occupancy tax collections were $27,560, up 8.5 percent from $25,381 collected in August 2011.

Food tax collections were down slightly with $52,654 collected, down $838 from the $53,492 collected in August 2011.

Sales tax numbers for October reflect August collections. Collections are reported two months after the fact.
