NATCHEZ — The sheriff’s office is investigating a shooting early Sunday morning in the Foresite Subdivision on Myrtle Drive.
Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Carlos Ward reportedly shot Walter Parker, 29, 383-D Morgantown Road, with a shotgun at approximately 2:20 a.m. after Parker reportedly tried to break up a fight between Ward and another individual.
Mayfield said Parker was treated at the scene by Metro Ambulance Service and refused to be transported to a hospital.
Parker was supposed to file charges at the sheriff’s office Monday morning, Mayfield said, but never showed up.
The sheriff’s office has not located Ward, Mayfield said.
Anyone with any information about the shooting should call the sheriff’s office at 601-442-2752 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000. Callers can remain anonymous.
