NATCHEZ (AP) — An attorney wants to delay the trial of an inmate charged with participating in a deadly prison riot in Mississippi.
One guard was killed and 20 people were injured in the May 20 riot at the privately-run Adams County Correctional Facility in Natchez. The prison holds illegal immigrants convicted of crimes in the U.S.
Pedro Gonzalez De Los Reyes is scheduled for trial Feb. 4 in U.S. District Court in Natchez.
His attorney has asked to delay the trial so he can have more time to examine the evidence in the case.
