POPLARVILLE — Pearl River Community College earned a split decision Saturday in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 tournament.

Adams County Christian School alumnus Jake Brumfield helped lead the way, getting a win in Game 1 Saturday against East Central Community College.

Brumfield went nine innings for the win, giving up three runs —one earned — on five hits with five strikeouts, in Pearl Rivers’ 5-3 win. Pearl River followed it up with a 5-0 loss to LSU-Eunice in Game 2 Saturday.
