NATCHEZ — Services for Lee Geancy Stewart Edwards, 51, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Aide Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Sago officiating.
Burial will follow at Mercy Seat Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, both at the church.
Mrs. Edwards was born May 9, 1962, in Natchez, the daughter of Lee Andrew Stewart and Julia Willis Stewart. She attended Natchez-Adams public schools and worked as a caregiver. She was retired.
Mrs. Edwards enjoyed decorating and gardening. She was Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Julius and Mattie Mae Willis; paternal grandparents, Pearlie and Nancy Stewart; seven aunts; seven uncles; and two cousins, Adrian and John.
Survivors include a loving daughter, Carol Lanaye Stewart; three grandchildren, Treasure Z. Doss, Keith O. Doss Jr. and O’myrah A. Woodley, all of Vaiden; five sisters, Gretchen R. Stewart of Fayette, Alice Areatha R. Stewart Colenburg of Hamburg, Vanessa C. Stewart and Carol L. Stewart, both of Baton Rouge, and Treva Thomas of Natchez; eight aunts, Margaret W. Morris, Mary W. McQuarters, Joan Willis, Mattie R. Turner and Peggy S. Rice, all of Natchez, Barbara Brown of Riverridge, La., and Eva Myles of New Orleans; six uncles, Manson Stewart and wife, Betty, of Atlanta, Alvin Stewart of Natchez, Kenny R. Stewart and wife, Twanna, of Cannonsburg, Horace Stewart and wife, Kathleen, of Monroe, La., Herbert Givens and wife, Iris, of West Wego, La., and Kibby Chatman of Gretna, La.; two great-aunts, Mary Irving of Natchez and Eloise Hampton of New Orleans; three great-uncles, Manson Wade and wife, Lula, of Natchez, DeWitt Givens of Ocala, Fla., and Roosevelt Blanton of New Orleans; a special friend, Alfred Price; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be cousins.
