Dr. Clifford L. Williams
HAMMOND, La., — Dr. Clifford L. Williams, 67, of Hammond, La., who died peacefully at his home with his family by his side June 14, 2013.
Arrangements have been made for private funeral services.
Clifford and his wife of 47 years moved to Hammond in 1980, where they raised their two daughters in the place they called home. Known throughout the community as an outstanding physician, he practiced medicine for more than 30 years, impacting the lives of many people. With a personal motto of “Quality over Quantity of Life,” he was a founding member of the American Academy of Hospice and Pallative Physicians and was later named a Fellow of the Academy.
In the early 1980’s, along with Lou Bordelon, he established the first Hospice program in South Louisiana, an organization which continues to help families — including his own — through the final phases of a loved one’s life. Throughout his career he continued to serve as medical director for multiple hospice programs in the region.
A principled man in his profession yet a quiet man by nature, he made many people smile through his musical and culinary talents.
Survivors include his wife Colleen; two daughters, A.J. and Shannon, and three grandchildren, Oscar, Juliette and Zoe.
