NATCHEZ — Maybe they were looking to make a quick buck off of stolen goods, or maybe they just wanted to furnish a house, but three Adams County residents have been charged with the theft of major appliances from a local home store.
Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said a third suspect in the theft of $3,000 worth of appliances from Stine has been arrested.
Jon Adams, 41, 1302 Westwood Drive, was arrested on charges of grand larceny and two counts of controlled substance violation. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office had put out public notices seeking information about Adams’ whereabouts, and he turned himself in Thursday.
Adams was detained on a $40,500 bond Thursday evening.
Previously arrested were Randy Morrison — a Stine employee — and Crystal Megan Smith, who were also charged with grand larceny.
Mayfield said the three suspects allegedly worked in concert to steal five air conditioners, a dryer, a stove and a wine cooler.
The sheriff said the dryer, stove, wine cooler and one air-conditioner have been recovered.
The ACSO is continuing to evaluate the store’s inventory to see if other appliances are missing, and additional arrests may follow, Mayfield said.
