VIDALIA — Services for Bertha Marie Hunter Pecanty, 90, of Acme, who died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Acme Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at the Acme Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pecanty was born April 21, 1923, in Golden Meadow, La., the daughter of Walter Hunter Sr. and Eliza St. Pierre Hunter.
She was a homemaker and a member of Acme Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pecanty was preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. Pecanty Sr.; her parents; one son, Joseph Leonard Pecanty Jr. and his wife, JoAnne; three brothers, Robert Hunter, Johness Hunter and Walter Hunter Jr.; one sister, Eva Hunter Smith; one son-in-law, Gary Hawkes; and four infant siblings.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Hawkes of Vidalia; two brothers, David Hunter Sr. of Cut Off, La., and Huey Hunter Sr. of Mobile, Ala.; two grandsons, Jason Hawkes and wife, Lea Ann, and Jeremy Pecanty and wife, Janie; two granddaughters, Jessica Usey and husband, Jared, and Jennifer Savole and husband, Shaun; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Hawkes, Shaun Savole, Jeremy Pecanty, Jimmy Temple, Max Knapp Jr. and Jimmy Little.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Bordelon and Gene Johnson.
